THE MEGA ANNUAL VIKING FUNERAL

Experience one of Darwin’s most iconic community traditions - the Annual Viking Funeral at Dinah Beach Cruising Yacht Association (DBCYA). This long‑running event blends local Darwin culture, live music, and a spectacular boat‑burning ceremony attended by locals, visitors from across the Top End, interstate, and international guests.

What Happens at the Viking Funeral

A handcrafted Viking ship, built by DBCYA members, is set ablaze in the iconic burning of the Viking vessel.
Family‑friendly with plenty of space to watch the Viking ship burn.
Live music all evening a festive Viking atmosphere as everyone celebrates and dances.
Great food and drinks available throughout the event.
Viking costume competition dress in your fiercest Viking gear; prizes awarded to the best‑dressed.
Photo competition capture the spirit of the Viking Funeral and enter your best shots.
