THE MEGA ANNUAL VIKING FUNERAL
Experience one of Darwin’s most iconic community traditions - the Annual Viking Funeral at Dinah Beach Cruising Yacht Association (DBCYA). This long‑running event blends local Darwin culture, live music, and a spectacular boat‑burning ceremony attended by locals, visitors from across the Top End, interstate, and international guests.
What Happens at the Viking Funeral
- A handcrafted Viking ship, built by DBCYA members, is set ablaze in the iconic burning of the Viking vessel.
- Family‑friendly with plenty of space to watch the Viking ship burn.
- Live music all evening a festive Viking atmosphere as everyone celebrates and dances.
- Great food and drinks available throughout the event.
- Viking costume competition dress in your fiercest Viking gear; prizes awarded to the best‑dressed.

- No BYO food, drink or personal chairs.
- NO DOGS THIS NIGHT ONLY - there's just too much action going down.
- Leave your car at home if possible - limited parking outside the venue. No parking inside the venue.
