Members and visitors alike come to enjoy the relaxed social and community ambience of our licensed premises and bistro and the special entertainment provided.

Full and Sail Crew members also have access to a practical range of DIY yacht repair and access facilities. A thriving community of yacht enthusiasts and professional tradesmen and two nearby chandlery stores provide local support.

DBCYA also provides a range of essential access and living facilities for members who dwell on their vessels in the inner harbour.

Careeng Poles

Careening Poles

Four careening pole sites are available for Full members and are a popular choice for short stay minor repairs and maintenance on their personal recreational vessel. Vessels cannot be disabled on the poles.

Bookings are required in advance at the Club office during weekday hours (not the bar) and the user must enter into a Careening Poles Agreement prior to use and abide by all operating T&Cs (provided at time of booking), including correct PPE.

  • Site rental is $30 per 24 hours.

  • Users are to supply their public liability insurance CoC (third party risk minimum, $10,000,000 cover minimum) 

  • This is a DIY facility with contaminant capture procedures – the user is required to follow all operating instructions when removing antifoul, paint encrusted barnacles etc. A $200 environmental deposit is required at the time of booking for contaminant removal.

  • Weight restrictions apply - please refer to the form below

  • Users must undergo a briefing prior to use and be versed with correct careening tie-off practices. Users are required to be present when the vessel keel initially touches the ground to adjust ropes as required.

  • There is also a careening berth against the wharf (preferred site for internal works) and a sandy beach site for multi-hulls and self supporting keel vessels

  • Electricity and Water at the poles. 15amp power and standard clip in fitting for water at each pole.  
  • The club does not provide Water pressure Generators.
  • Ensure your tools and leads are tested and tagged

Hard Stand Facilities

DBCYA provides Hard Stand sites in two locations for Full members:

  1. ‘The Boat Park’ for long term repairs and refurbishment of mono-hulls and powered cruisers;

  2. ‘The Wharf’ for long term repairs and refurbishment of multi-hulls; and short term (4 months max) repairs and refurbishment of mono-hulls and powered cruisers

Booking requests are required through the General Manager by first completing an Expression of Interest (below). 

  • Rates start at $115 per week (Boat Park) and $130 per week (Wharf). Site allocation is subject to availability and is on a first booked, first allocated basis upon receipt of the EOI. Rental fees increase incrementally upon anniversary of occupation.

  • All occupants must enter into a Hard Stand Use Deed of Agreement and pay bond prior to haul out and comply with all terms therein, including all tools and leads tested and tagged prior to use. All new Agreements are issued for a maximum of 12 months (except short term wharf sites as noted above). There is provision to renew upon prior mutual agreement.

  • Vessels are transported via independent local crane operators through direct arrangement with the vessel owner.

  • Occupants can reside on their vessel for the purpose of expediting works. Occupancy is not permitted solely for the purposes of residency however and the Hard Stand Use Deed of Agreement is not considered a tenancy arrangement.

  • Vessels must be covered by Third Party Risk Insurance 

  • Electricity (individually metered) usage rates apply. 

  • Size and weight limits apply and no guarantee is given that a site will be available.

  • Sand / glass blasting is not permitted on the hard stand

Pontoon Facilities

A floating pontoon provides year-round access for Full and Visiting Yachtsperson members to come ashore by dinghy. Tides need to be negotiated and access is typically unavailable at a 2.5m tide or less. The seat upon the pontoon was created and bestowed by local wood artist Rex Maxwell and the pontoon is accessible via the ‘Stait Bridge’. 

  • Maximum stay duration at any one time is 48 hours. The pontoon is for temporary land access by those dwelling on vessels in the harbour, it is not a continual storage facility for occasional access to vessels in the harbour.
  • For tenders up to 14ft in length only.
  • Authorisation Sticker - All Full / Visiting Yachtsperson members wishing to use this facility need to obtain an authorization sticker from the bar or General Manager and affix to their dinghy. This sticker pertains only to the current year of membership and a replacement sticker must be obtained when renewing membership each year. The owner's DBCYA Membership number must also be on visible display on the dinghy.

ABLUTION BLOCK

  • code-access shower facilities.
  • coin-operated laundry - three washing and two drying machines ($4 per load). An ironing board and clothes line is available.
    Also contained in the laundry is a large collection of second hand books for members and visiting yachtsmen to swap and refresh their reading material. This collection has organically developed over time from travellers all around the world

 

 

WORKSHOP

  • The DBCYA workshop comprises a basic collection of donated tools and equipment and is handy for simple DIY yacht, chandlery and tender repairs and modifications.
  • All users must provide their own PPE and use of the facility is at the user’s risk. First aid kit, eye wash and fire extinguishers provided.

GENERAL

  • Ongoing overnight vehicle parking (for those living on nearby yachts only)
  • A 500kg capacity davit crane facility (on edge of wharf)
